Was it really?

I refuse to agree; there are arguments both for and against technological advancement. “Technology is a regrettable necessity.” Back in the day, you always hear millennials say this, and I always wanted to get back at them, but out of respect, I clammed up. I always wanted to get back at them like “As if you want to go back to a time when you couldn’t connect with your friends after high school and college, which is why you’re here with none of your childhood friends, you are probably jealous of us.”
Before anyone comes after me, I know the number of people suffering from mental illness is at an all-time high. This is due to the development of technology because nowadays people are busy with their respective phones and less bothered about going out and having fun. I guess people are lazy.
Due to this, charts of suicidal cases around the globe are rapidly increasing. Indeed, you’re spot on, but my counterargument would be to look back at the time before technology. How many people have died due to the lack of proper assistance in hospitals and the lack of communication for emergency assistance? Guess what they didn’t have back then: Technology. It appears to be balanced out. In this blog, I might come across as a non-sympathetic person. But I’m not; all I want to do is find a way to overcome the downsides of technology, like making people aware of mental health. Especially among young people, they’re told not to express their emotions, so they bottle them up within themselves. If they share their vulnerable side, they’re mocked by their peers because they’re not strong.
It’s high time we take this matter seriously and do not blame technology for these issues happening in the world.
