Logically Atheism) Yet a Believer
The title may confuse you, but let me explain: I’m Christian—a protestant Christian, to be specific. (I even have some disagreements on that matter, but that’s for another day.) I think it’s fair for me to say I have pretty good knowledge about all the Abrahamic religions, namely Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and I have studied their holy books, which are the Torah, Bible, and Quran, respectively. Before criticising these religions, I have no intention of disrespecting anyone’s beliefs but to analyse each religion for what it is, and I have purposefully not included other religions because I simply don’t have a good knowledge about them.
Christianity
- Shall we start with my religion itself, the one that I currently believe in? Christianity As a Christian, people expect me to blindly follow Christianity, but I’m not.
- I even have questions that can’t be answered by any human.
- I believe the Bible can be interpreted in many ways. Most Christians will tell me otherwise.
- One example is the concept of salvation, which is a fundamental part of Christianity.
- Ephesians 2:8–10 So salvation is earned just by faith; no works are needed, or faith and works, for it is mentioned that faith without works is dead in James 2:17–18.
- There are many things like these, but I want to get my point across that the Bible has contradictions.
- For some, this would make them leave Christianity and become atheists, like I was before 2020. (At the end, I will explain why I reverted back to Christianity.)
Judaism
- Let’s tackle the second religion, Judaism.
- The most important figure in Judaism is the Jewish messiah, but the messiah in the Torah is described in two different ways.
- Isaiah 11:3–9 says that he will punish the wicked, and the wolves will be lying with lambs and the children will be playing with cobras.
- Micah 4:3 and Isahiah 2:4 emphasise that swords won’t be lifted against each other, and neither shall they learn war anymore.
- Basically, there will be no more wars, and world peace will be restored. This is one representation of the messiah.
- If we look at Isaiah 53, it completely paints the messiah in a polar opposite way.
- Here it is said the messiah will be despised and rejected; he will be a man of sorrows, in fact a lamb that is led to slaughter, yet it was God’s plan to crush him. He bore the sin of many, becoming the intercession of the sinners.
- These are two wide illustrations of the messiah: If it is God’s plan for him to crush the messiah,? How can he do the things said in Isaiah 11:3–9 or 2:4? It doesn’t make sense if you just look at the Torah.
Islam
- In Islam, it is said that the Quran is a 100 % unaltered word of God written by an illiterate man who can’t read or write.
- This is how Muslims believe that the Quran was given to mankind.
- From the divine words of ALLAH to GABRIEL to MUHAMMAD to FOLLWERS OF MUHAMMAD
- So this is how the Quran is written, with no inspiration or anything like that, just received by Allah.
- This means there should be no mistakes in the Quran.
- Before getting started, let’s clear something up. We know that the mother of the Prophet Jesus was Mary.
Quran 3:36 & Quran 66:12 say Imran’s daughter is Mary
3:45 Mary bears Jesus
Did the Quran refer to Mary’s father as Imran?
Can we search for Imran?
I very well came to know there that Prophet Moses father name was Imran. Imran and Mary were at least separated by a thousand years?
So this verse questions the integrity of the Quran. Is it really God’s divine work?
The easiest coping mechanism would be to say there are two, Imran. Well, it can be, but sadly, I have one more verse to rebuke that excuse.
Sister of Aaron You simply can’t rebuke this.
Seems like The writer of the Quran got a bit confused between Mary and Miriyam here.
The Arabic translation of Mary is Maryam, and the Miriam Arabic translation is also Maryam. Does an all-knowing and powerful God make mistakes? I leave that question to the readers.
Conclusion
- Well, as you can see, logically, no religion makes sense; you simply cannot win an argument against an atheist.
- Even though I have made cases why religion claims don’t add up, that doesn’t stop me from believing in an all-knowing and omnipresent god (for my case, which is Christianity, it can be Judaism, Islam, or any religion).
- I came to the realisation that if he is all-knowing and all-powerful, I should not be able to understand him.
- My human brain can’t even comprehend mathematical derivations. How am I supposed to know the secrets of the universe? I firmly believe that sometimes you have to take a leap of faith; the belief part comes later.
